INTRODUCTION TO PASTEL:
One of my concerns
is how to do this without spending an arm and a leg!

BRING THESE PASTELS:

GOLDFABER

72 set  Studio Soft Pastels                            Dakota Pastels,   $24.00             (www.dakotapastels.com)

PLUS:                                NUPASTELS   (Usually about a $1 each)

Text Box: (Optional)
254	Hyacinth Violet
277	Ivory
295	Prussian Blue *
304	Mauve
448	Eden Green*
Text Box: 235	Light Blue
244	Blue Violet *
247	Light Naples Yellow
298	Bottle Green
346 Deep red
353	Cardovan*

OR      (Instead of the Goldfaber)

You could buy the 48 set of Nupastels and add the (*) colors,

OR      buy the 96 set.

Many other pastels can be added, But limiting yourself to these will help you learn to control pressure in the use of pastel, and to build up color-notes on the paper.   Bring and use whatever you have, but make sure you do have the additional Nupastels I have listed, since these colors are often overlooked.

One great half stick set for bright colors, is Sennelier 80 Half sticks for $60+/-.

Non-Beginners can bring paper they like plus 1 sheet of LeCarte, or Wallis
